A collection of photographs and paintings by Rebecca Clare Sanders

'My creative journey began at age nine, standing in the grounds of Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire. Captivated by the colours and the scenery, I didn't ask for a toy for my next birthday—I asked for a camera.
Although I was raised by an artist mother, my path was not linear. I studied art formally until age 14, but despite my teacher's advice to continue, I swapped the art room for the music room. However, the urge to create visual art never left me. I continued to sketch and paint in the privacy of my bedroom, keeping my passion as a quiet hobby for years.
Everything changed when I moved to America in 1998. It was there that my private hobby blossomed into a profession, and I began accepting my first commissions. Now back in the UK and settled in North Devon, I draw fresh inspiration from the rugged coastlines and landscapes around me. I am a proud member of the Ilfracombe Art & Craft Society, where I currently display my work, continuing a lifelong dialogue with colour that started in a castle garden years ago."
